Summer classes in Lawrence, KS

4 Weeks, 4 Essays

Do you have ideas percolating that you want to write about? Would you benefit from a weekly deadline? Use your summer to work toward your writing goals as we explore creative nonfiction together.

Part of class time will also be spent examining published essays for examples of craft. Students will complete each session with four separate pieces that have been workshopped in class.

"This was a wonderful starter class for me that helped me to focus all of my ideas and ponder some others." Jump Start Your Novel participant

“This class has been amazing. You are such an open, inclusive person. You have the ability to make each individual feel important and their voice, their thoughts, validated. Your openness has encouraged everyone around you to share. And I love that you can always find the positive to remark on for each person’s writing.” Stephanie

“It was an excellent writing class. Teacher encouraged students gently and persistently, and gave a lot of information/learning materials to think of. I learned that the personal essay is an art, and that creative needs great discipline while the writer should get over his/her own fear.” Minyoung

"Thank you so much for this experience.  I feel like I have grown so much as a human and as a writer." Anna
